Throughout the years Holy Cross has participated in the St.
Nicholas Program for seminarian families, providing holiday support for
students from either St Vladimir's or Tikhon's Seminaries. On Sunday,
January 2nd, the parish was blessed by a visit from Reader Andreas Blom and
his family.
Rdr. Andreas, 37, is
originally from Sweden, and converted to Orthodoxy after moving to America.
He is married to Theodora, and they have two children - Tuva and Theodor.
The Bloms are from Holy Theophany Orthodox Church in Colorado Springs, CO,
and Andreas is currently a second year seminarian at St. Tikhon's Orthodox
Theological Seminary in South Canaan, PA.
Everyone
at Holy Cross enjoyed the visit and appreciated the family taking time from
their holiday schedule to join us for Liturgy. After Liturgy, their daughter
Tuva attended our Sunday school class as the rest of the family enjoyed
fellowship with our parish family during coffee hour.

Reader
Andreas provided a thoughtful homily focusing on the Gospel Reading and
emphasizing the spiritual value Orthodox Christians gain in the Sacrament of
Confession.
